Low Carbon Steel Wire Rods

1. Scope

This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies low carbon steel wire rods , hereinafter referred to as the "wire rods" , to be uses for the manufacture of iron wire, galvanized iron wire for armouring, galvanized iron wire strand, etc.

However, wire rod for core wire of covered electrode is excluded from the application of this standard.

　

2. Classification and Symbol

The wire rods shall be classified into SWRM 6  clasees, and their symbols shall conform to Table 1.

　

3. Chemical Composition

The chemical composition of the wire rods shall be determined by the ladle analysis, and the values obtained shall conform to Table 1.
